Our company was founded by Marion E. Wade, a former minor league baseball player, with a strong personal faith and a commitment to treating individual employees and customers with dignity and respect.

Our History

ServiceMaster was initially a moth-proofing company, but it quickly expanded its offerings to include carpet cleaning in 1952. In the 1960s, the company pioneered third-party outsourcing in the healthcare industry and entered the education market in the 1980s. ServiceMaster of Greater Pittsburgh has been serving the Western Pennsylvania area since 1955, and in 1981, John Samek purchased and reopened the business in his garage in Penn Hills. The company has since expanded its operations, moved to new facilities in Oakmont, and continued to serve homes and businesses across the region.
